Safeguarding

This work is offered as non-directive coaching and is not a crisis or emergency service.

I don't provide support of situations involving immediate risk to harm to yourself or others.

Safeguarding within this work is based on clarity of scope, appropriate limits, and signposting to the right support when needed.

If, during a session, it becomes clear that someone is experiencing a level of distress or risk that sits outside the scope of coaching, the work will be paused or brought to an end.

In these situations, I will encourage the person to seek appropriate external support, such as contacting their GP, local crisis team, emergency services, or recognised crisis support organisation.

Responsibility for assessing emergency or crisis care remains with the individual.

As part of working ethically online, I may ask for basic contact details and a named emergency contact before sessions begin.

In rare situations where there is credible and immediate risk of serious harm, and where a person may be unable to act for themselves, emergency contact details may be used in line with safeguarding responsibilities.

Confidentiality

Conversations within sessions are treated with care and respect, and what you share is kept confidential.

The only exception to this is where there are serious concerns about the immediate safety of yourself or others, or where there is legal obligation to share information.

In these situations, appropriate steps may be taken to prioritise safety.

If an emergency contact were ever reached as part of safeguarding responsibilities, only the information necessary to address immediate safety concerns would be shared.

The nature of this work, or the content of conversations, would not be discussed.

These measures exist to ensure that the work remains ethical, appropriately held, and within clear professional boundaries.

My role is not to intervene in crisis, but to recognise when risk exceeds the limits of this work and to support people in accessing the right help at the right time.
